May is the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month that celebrates Asian culture, history, people, and food. After the negativity of the “Asian Hate” situation, we wanted to create something positive that would facilitate cultural relations and unity. ENTR Entrepreneur Advancement Program created Asian Food Month in collaboration with Asian American Alliance in 2022. Culture and food always bring people together to build relationships.
For the first year of the Asian Food Month, we invited the general public to attend our Food Tasting event at Rajput Indian Cuisine. We met strangers from the community and started cultural conversations and building real relations.
For this year’s Asian Food Month Event, we invited community leaders and professionals from different organizations that also had a similar mission of promoting diversity and inclusion in the community. The interactions among them were very important in fostering stronger relationships and community building.
Yukai Buffet was the supporting sponsor for this year. We tasted delicious Chinese cuisine and Japanese sushi. We had so much fun in eating and conversing. Guests simply enjoyed the evening with other people who were culturally different and having a conversation to get to know each other better. We are causing change and advocating for cultural unity.
This year, we recognized Dr. Yash Paul Chhabra who has made significant contributions to the AAPI community. Dr. Chhabra had been a restaurateur and an influential leader in the AAPI community. Bring able to celebrate his hard work and success was a great inspiration to us all.
